Fiber Fascination An Exhibition of Contemporary Fiber Art by Kitty Uetz & Cindy Malora-SturdevantFiber
Fiber Fascination presents a dynamic exploration of contemporary fiber art through the distinct yet harmonious visions of artists Kitty Uetz and Cindy Malora-Sturdevant. This exhibition celebrates fiber not only as material but as medium—of memory, transformation, and artistic inquiry.
Employing a wide range of techniques including weaving, dyeing, crocheting, punch needle, batik, beading, and knitting, Uetz and Malora-Sturdevant engage with fiber traditions both reverently and inventively. Their work is deeply rooted in personal narrative, ancestral memory, and spiritual reflection, transforming thread and cloth into tactile expressions of presence and process.
Each piece in Fiber Fascination speaks to the meditative and storytelling power of handwork. The artists approach fiber as both a tool and a language—one capable of holding emotional resonance, cultural lineage, and embodied time. What emerges is a richly textured dialogue between heritage and innovation, intimacy and imagination.
In the hands of Uetz and Malora-Sturdevant, fiber becomes illumination—a material through which the unseen is made visible, and the everyday is elevated to the sacred. Fiber Fascination invites viewers to engage with fiber art not only through sight, but through a deeper sense of feeling, memory, and meaning.

Statement from the artist:
Cars go fast all around town. Some are red, orange, blue or brown. They zoom by, then drive too slow—leaving me feeling, well, you know. I drew ‘em, painted ‘em, re-drew ‘em; made some other stuff. From canvas to constructions, I put all my feelings into Evan’s Body Shop. The feelings come through with different ways of painting: airbrush, spray paint, brushwork, drawings. Every angle, every curve, all in nice colorful boxes on messy surfaces. We’re learning, we’re growing—give it time. Walk around, take it in, take a toy car, tell me what you think (be nice, or not), and have a jolly time!
